This position begins in August 2006 and requires a teaching and research focus in public finance and budgeting, with teaching in the department's MPA and doctoral programs. This is a new professorship for an individual with an established record of publication and teaching in American public policy. We are especially interested in scholars focusing on the areas of urban policy, social services, education, housing, health care, or income inequality. The successful candidate will play a central role in establishing a new undergraduate concentration in American public policy within the department of Political Science, and will work with the new School of Communication, Technology and Public Service, which is within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Rigali Professorship will normally be a 5-year appointment with a possibility of renewal. Initial appointment is at the tenured associate professor level in Political Science. Associate professors and advanced assistant professors are encouraged to apply. Appointment to this position brings with it distinction, a reduced teaching load, and supplementary funding to support research and programmatic initiatives. LUC offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2006. At the end of the appointment, the Rigali professor will return to full-time teaching and research responsibilities in the Department of Political Science. The group was initiated by a group of scholars of regulation, aiming to enhance cooperation among scholars as well as the state of the knowledge in this highly important field. Our group is organized under the ECPR, which is the organization of European political scientists, but we do hope to include and to be able to attract lawyers, economists, sociologists and criminologists (among other) to join us in this scholarly organization.
